Communication is about so much more than the words we say it’s about the non verbal also, think of how we greet people, are we always cheery; do we make eye contact or smile?.Much of communication is about who we are speaking with, for e.g do we use abbreviations with colleagues that would mean little to those who do not work in the same industry?. We need to tailor our verbal and non verbal communications so that we can have meaningful connection with a variety of people. We can do this by looking at how best to support our service users to ensure they understand any information we may need to give or occasionally ask for and how to support those with additional communication needs.
